the only way i know the annexe is getting flattened is when the cleaners said "don't leave too many computers in there, you'll only have to shift them next year when the bulldozers move in!"

eh? ITS MY OFFICE  and why do they know before me?

Good point. Surely Oxford/Cambridge/St. Andrews/etc. will have higher proportions of students from public school, though? It's all of the Southern rahs who come to Newcastle too, due to the much cheaper cost of living in comparison to Surrey/Berkshire/Hampshire/etc. Bastards, wandering around with their rugger shirts on.

My impression of Northumbria has always been the opposite of that to be honest.

Are you at Nottingham or Nottingham Trent?

I stand corrected. Newcastle is about 8th on the list. Sure it was 1st a few years ago though. Still quite high though considering it isn't that elitest

Where is this list you speak of? It is quite high, considering the number of public schools in the area. As I say though, it's all to do with the cheaper living conditions. It is a great university though.

Re: Northumbria, there were quite a few spazzes from my school who ended up there with offers like CDD, etc., so I guess that has something to do with my generalisations about it's students. Saying that, someone I went to school with does English there and enjoys it.

Back to the original topic of the thread, whoever is going to study English, did you not apply to Durham?

Doctor Hew cannot reveal such information in fear of his identity being discovered.

Here is an dated list. Note there's a few medical schools etc above it on the list, and I wouldn't class those as Universities

Newcastle is no cheaper than any other city outside London to go to Uni, the reason most of the rahs go to Newcastle is because its the 'en vouge' destination for public school kids, that and its close to Durham..

All the newcastle uni graduates I know ended up with crap jobs coz they've been sheltered in their upbringing and/or have no social skills or life experience. It's ok to be educated but that is very different from being intelligent.

Where all the cool kids go :D :cool2:

You think Newcastle/Northumbria/Nottingham are bad for rahs - try Durham! ARGH they piss me off, but fortunately they all stick together and look down on anyone with a slightly northern accent, so I'm safe :)
