Bar St. Martins in London it is the best for fashion yeah.

My mum manages all of fashion at Northumbria.

I just fancied going elsewhere, not because of that but, I dunno. I know how good it is for fashion and you get a year of placement as well which you dont do at Nottingham.

He's right. You'll enjoy the whole experience more. Fair enough, you have to think about the course but I'd say the social/independence side of things is just as important when going to Uni so u should think about it from that point of view too.

just because nottingham is gun capital of england, doesnt mean newcastle hasnt got any of that - wherever you live in the town there's a shit estate you just feel more secure coz you know home is only a few stops on the metro away.

i agree with scruf - if you're going to be a uni student you might as well do it properly and see a bit of the world with it

says me enrolling at newcastle college

you obviosuly haven't been to Liverpool in a while

worth noting Newcastle has the highest rate of violent crime in the UK.. the north east also has the highest rate of unemployment in the UK.. so make of that what you will..

i've never lived in nottingham, are you on crack?

one of my mates lives on the edge of radford, which isn't a particularly nice place. going down in a couple of weeks for a piss up. beeston and places like that around the uni are nice.

central st martins is where all the top designers come from.. thats where my mate whos doing her MA at ravensbourne did her degree..

most (all apart from helen I think) of the people saying don't go away haven't actually either lived away from home or haven't left newcastle, so really you should make your own mind up.. I've never had money troubles, and yes going away from home may cost you a little bit more but then thats life, depends if you think you need wrapping up in cotton wool any longer, or whether you want to get out there and make it for yourself.. it makes you more self sufficient and certainley more wise to the world..

IMHO going away to uni is like a nursery, its like a holiday.. you have a wicked social life at uni, meet people from all around the world, go to more places than you would in newcastle and when term finishes you go home for 6 weeks and do it all again with your mates from home...

going away is all about wanting to experience new things and your personal ambition in my opinion and in your case its all about meeting the right people, you'll widen your social horizons which will be vital when you need someone to commisision your designs.. overall, you only get one chance at this so think very carefully!

I know tom, thank you for the advice. I am going to think it through very carefully and have a while to get together a portfolio for Northumbria which is being applied for through route B rather than A like Nottingham. I havent heard back from anyone yet anyway and im going to look around some places in february.

    :)

Course doesnt look very good there to be honest! There was just so little places to choose from because the marketing course is pretty new so I hear!
