    ooooooooooooo handbags dear

I cant believe I got a late night bite from mr change design

all a flyer has to do is communicate a message - when its on , and where - it doesnt need to be a designer label witha tolkien esque essay on it

if people know the party is mint and its in amint location word of mouth will do the rest

but we must be doing something right - our promo delivered +250 vs yours last month I believe

      :D

melt, no offence but the detox flyers are shite in comparison

The Nights that have had the best flyers in town in the last few years:

    Promise (class flyers :) )
    Wax:eek:n
    the 'older style' Shindig one's
    Habit
    JnrG
there was a class 'people get real' flyer from tokyo
    that keegan party one

the new style evolve one's are shite compared to the ones last year.

i think techincally the Wax On artwork has been in its own league for a couple of years now. The technical and creative talent behind it is wicked. Its been very similar for a long time though (which is hardly a bad thing)

Turbulence also has some great artwork.

For impact tho and variety Habit are cool. (im biased tho) :p

I think some of Shindigs have been a bit hit and miss last year (sometimes). The more recent ones seem to be picking up a bit. They havent been bad or anything, just think the monkey ones for example werent great. They obviously have a higher turnover of work though so it puts more pressure on.

Plus i think most people know gone are the days when nights can afford to blow hundreds/thousands at design companies to come up with the fanciest flyers.

Flyers: The things most of us read & bin or chuck on the deck after about 30 seconds of getting them

They way some of you lot are talking you are sounding like Brian Sewell.

If I did flyer: Club logo, on a black background on one side & then big white font telling the punter all the essential shit on a black background on the other side. JOB FUCKING DONE.

Flyer design now have that dreadful braggadocio that is so characteristic of a cocaine user.

using words like that should really earn you a ban! yet i know what it means, i think that at least 0.1% of my friends would!

however, i only think flyer design only really counts to people that really admire it, rather than the punter who get's them handed and by rule of thumb chucks it straight away. and i think if there wasnt people making an effort in the design of promotions shite - the world would be a plain, boring place.

    it is 'artwork' afterall

aye right the pink junior g ones were class lol

detox flyers only need to do 2/3 things

convey often that it's in a secret location - if you look at the bigger meaning of the backdrop - rear it often gives a clue as to where it may be happening

plus when its on, who is on

oh and it needs to be good roach material as people keep flyers that make good roach

I CANT BE CHEWED with flyers that scream "we are cooler than cool" and others that tell you everything from a djs shoesize, thru to what they had for breakfast and where they went to school / university

all I need to know is - is this dj going to make me dance

ps: richie hawtin at wax:eek:n didnt

Just for the record, the Suono/Luminati ones by Col Davies (and most of the stuff by Col) are superb.
