only joking mate - but a good businessman loves to fuck others over - for example when you got an idea stolen...:D

if there was ever an unexplored venue in the region of trance it would be the academy - wouldent that be great?

the problem is you would have to have it in the right place of a month e.g when nothing else was on. and it would be class! money would be made - people would be happy, and people are always game for somthing new in terms of venue's etc

so its not a case of stepping on peoples toes - its a case of "if i put a trance night on this friday - people will obviously go to junior G" that kinda thing.

if i was a promoter out to make money - i would start an indie night in suderland, you would make the dolla off it like.

promote it as an indie night - wait till everyones in lock the doors, and bombard those kids from "that band" with hard techno.

    it'll convert the masses i tell's ya

On a serious note mate, it really depends who you wanna pull in to the night, which sort of crowd do you want your night to appeal to?
If you want an instant money maker from a business point of veiw, a charva/clubland night would most probably sell out in Newcastle or Sunderland, infact Sunderland only hosts nights like that at Liquid, Diva etc... they aint got no real underground scene?

If your wanting a reputable night, decent clubbers & the right reputation your in the wrong City & definately the wrong forum.

For instance Manchester only has 1 big trance night which is Native (goodgreef) so it may be less competition for you? up here your looking at Gods, Evolve, Detox & Junior:G but like folk say if your up for a challenge & not afraid of loosing $$ then why not give it a bash?

Put it this way the easiest & quickest way to get established or get up & running in these circumstances is either:

    - Host a versus night with a leading name/night in town, make your own name for your night up & say your willing to foot the bill for the majority of the headliners, on the upside you get to use their Venue for nothing which in turn brings it's client base the other night has built up.

    - Or go all out, dont fuck around with half arsed underground DJ's who MAY pull a crowd or try & work your way up the ladder by gaining respect in a little bar & working your way up to a club, out all hours promoting a night nobody will in the end turn up to? book a big hitter, aproach a leading club I.e: Digital, Carling Academy, the Sage & give them the DJ's profile promising that their venue will sell out & give them an offer they cant refuse.

Your in good stead id say, you state you have the capital & also your not bothered about loosing money, GET IT DONE i say:wink:

Why anyone bothers with club promotion these days is beyond me ... apart from the select few that can actually strike an amazing balance between doing something worthwhile (in the customers eyes and to the chinscratchers), its just a complete sell out business.

The DJ's and club owners are laughing all the way to the bank.

Well said proudy, spot on.

come to think about it, a rave in the sage? sounds like a canny venue to book - although i havent been before, the acoustics are supposed to be the best in the bizzle like.

Habit have already done it - it was a great night apart from the fact you couldnt smoke inside the place, the music got turned off a few times because of that, and that people would end up wandering off around the building to chat ..... which meant that it took people out the main room. It was a great night - but there were a few factors which meant that a club would have probably have been a better venue.

I was just away to post that Newcaslte only has a population of 275,000 but turns out it is much bigger than that when you include the surrounding areas

when you include North and South Tyneside and Gateshead its nearer 800,000

very odd then that the dance 'population' is so small when you compare it to Leeds (population 750,000) and the amount of nights there are there
