    I bet that's shocking.

If I had to choose a music policy it would probs be a mixture of House, Techno and Minimal. But that's just me....

Property costs are too high, and battered clubbers are too cheap to make anything like this a credible business idea a.... maybe back in the days where you could rent somewhere a short walk off the beaten track for cheap - but these days, wheres the money in something like this?

i agree no ones gonna be buying loads of drink, it'll just be a mix of drug fueled messes and people asleep in the corners.

I didn't start this thread as a bit of research for a planned business venture. My trip to London just made me think and I was curious to see WHY something like this wouldn't work if it were to take place up here.

I work in finance so realise that it would be a massive risk to even attempt starting up a night like that - If I were to have anything to do with the Sunday club/bar culture though, I'd have wanted it to go/be something like this! ;)

cheers for the free advertising

I went to Gershwins after we had finished at Tokyo

it was RAMMED at about 1230am on a Sunday night (even though it was a 5er to get in)

shame the music was absolutely shite but it shows you that people do go out on a sunday....dont think that many people there were students either

newcastle clublife for the majority of visitors AND residents is about getting as fucked as possible as quickly and cheaply as possible and lots of 'fun' i.e. cheesy/crap bars/clubs - end of story.

I used to go out on sundays in newcastle all the time ..... Was usually quite busy and come the 12.30 kick out, we were always a bit gutted.

.... Shame it was only a few really rubbish clubs that would open then.

Yeah, I know mate. I think that now we have the "perfect for stag and hen night" label, it'll be hard to shake off - If we ever do.

What you have to remember with London is that the population is 8 million

    Newcastles is 0.35 million

I would probably go to these places and i know plenty of other people who would but the music and crowd would have to be right and they sold booze. I dont want to be listening to horrific hard dance music at 8 in the morning.

Plus the music couldnt be too loud

You need to get the right balance between pub/club and party. When ive been in Barcelona, we have stumbled into after hours places at 7am which we would never have found unless we knew they were there. You could get a nice drink, get a seat, the music isnt blaring and listen to stories from bizzare strangers

Like someone said, the dancefloor of the Digital is rarely rammed at 4am althought that doesnt mean people dont stay up until rubbish o clock the next day; they just do it in their own homes

It will only ever be a 'perfect for stag/hen do' place for as long as thats whats on offer.

The bars and clubs reflect the culture, not the other way around as alot of these high brow mincer bars would like to think ...

.... Best bar ever in newcastle was still the old Po-Na-Na imho.

I know ... whenever I go out I'm asked where the best places are to go, and so i ask what type of music they like .... if i had a pound for every blank look i get back ......

What they actually mean is, where is the easiest place to pull, they aren't bothered about the music

it won't shake that image now... a victim of it's own success, hence why the bigg market type bar has spread to the quayside, the gate, the coast...

Without people willing to take a risk though to attempt to change the "scene" it will inevitably stick....
