I was gonna say this as soon as i saw them but thought i might get banned or something for having an opinion! Now theres 3 of us so we can all go down together! :D Basically i think they look dull and i dont like the small writing. The old ones were much better (stood out from the crowd).

I do like the idea of putting peoples pictures on them, that will be cool. But i think the design should be closer to the old ones. :chill:

the new designed flyers (and this is coming from a full time qualified graphic designer - and im sure craig S -snaz, will agree too) are much better than the older flyers due to design trends.
The new ones are what you call more modern, up to date with the trends in dance culture, more techno-orientated and influenced by techno-art (not the music) which suits clubnight images perfectly.

the older designs were more - in your face, "hello we are Promise" type of designs trying to have a bit of style added to them but didnt work much IMO. It was like they were concentrating more on attracting people to promise (which is fair enough cos thats what flyers are meant to do) but didnt care which type of people.

where as the new designs portray an established, stylish look and feel, and this reflects much better on Promise as a whole, attracting the more specifically targeted club cultured people Promise want to attend their nights.

i like the new flyers, and the idea of me becoming (even more) famous in newcastle after being on the promise flyers
the new flyers remind me of the GC SSS adds, with the ppl on them....

dont like the sounds of the new drinks prices, but it dont bother me that much. Ppl will just stay @ home longer and get pissed b4 promise, or go to more pubs and bars...Foundation will be the ones who loose the $$ in the long run IMO.

the nu promise flyers are an improvement from the kinda mis-matched one before it... but... its very similar to a lot of flyers that have gone.. sum at least 1 and a bit years before it.....

...most flyers 2day have the adobe illustrator aided outlined chracters and graphix....

i do likes them.. but wud like 2 see sumthing nu....

shindigs.. x-ray design is gr8.. but i wonder how they will top it with a nu design.

    :)

yeah but the reason for using the adobe illustrated outlined characters is more suitable than most other flyers knocking around today, for the fact that the idea behind the flyers is to show 'Promise is YOU' using regulars shapes at promise on the flyers.
The reason for the outlining is down to minimising expenses on printing costs. Full colour flyers dont go cheap you know!! so using the outlining vector designs is a cheaper and more effective idea. Perfect balance of cost and design.

Yes there is a lot of the outlinin effect knocking around, and a better original idea probably could of been produced, BUT, (and im not gonna go into the ethics of the design process) design is all about taking an older idea and making it better or improving on it. There is NEVER an 'original' design, your always influenced by something.

yeh a i totally agree with u fizz.. its a top idea...

i mean it wud be a bit stupid having the idea behind the flyer campaign as 'promise is you' then not having people on it :p

i was just saying that the illustrator outline idea gets canned quite a bit.... looks the bolox like thats why so many companies do!

in one of my last graphx briefs @ uni i used the outlines as well  ;)

i like the new promise flyers, but the only problem is they are too big, ive gotta fold it to fit in my bag, the other ones fitted in perfectly, lol, but thats the only problem i can see with them, and the fact that they are guna have us lot on makes them even better!!

i loved the old shindig ones, where they splet out shindig in loads of different ways, like on a deck of cards, or carved into ice, stuff like that, i thought they were fucking lush, ive got a collection of them just coz they are pretty!!

not only that it think it looks better.

the same flyer using an actual photograph would probably look a bit crap if you ask me...

    LOL - Sorry Mark

I never seen this post until today otherwise I would have replied long ago.

I didn't realise I had so much effect on u Mark. Believe me if I had the cash I would set up my own night - maybe one day I will. Bit of competition for you in Newcastle lol. :p

Mark I've got the upmost resepect for you as a promoter but sometimes you take things the wrong way over your little baby (Promise) and arguments start over things that aren't even said or that have been taken out of context.

I love Promise or I wouldn't even go and spend my cash or be on this message board. Im not here to cause trouble but I thought the idea of a msg board was to give opinions and not just praise you and the club for every little thing you do. If you look at the amount of posts I've made most of them are positive and only about 10 are negative.

How many people have posted on this thread and said how bad the old flyers were but didn't actually tell you that when they were in circulation around the place.

I promise you I don't have a posse - whatever anyone else says is up to them.

Mark to show u I have no hard feelings I am willing to shake your hand and give you some dolly beads on Friday at the EC. If ur not too hurt by my comments would that be ok?

Can I have some too please?

MARK - I just read my posts on this thread and I said nothing negative about the membership scheme.

What I said was can beer monsters not become members aswell.

The second line of the post meant that I thought Promise was a place where everyone was welcome and that by putting people off with the prices of non-member drinks was being a bit too eliteist (don't know how to spell it) and Crasher like.

All I'm bothered about is the drinks price increase and you already explained that it wasn't your fault. I do know that you can get drinks for 50p at the playrooms on a friday though :D

Im not trying to attack you on the board because there is no point. If I had a problem with you or Promise I just wouldn't go.

Keep up the good work and smile :D
