I fail to see what mentioning error_ in this thread has anything to do with my post when I aint mentioned them at all.

my observation of newcastle clubland is and it remains to be that there are more nights covering the minimal techno sound than is sustainable given the number of regular clubbers in the city and surrounding area

aye sure you may disagree with that, but only the fullness of time will tell: so I suggest we revisit this in 12-18months time and see who was right?

its amusing slightly that habit say they are house and house alone, hell isnt all dance music house, and in the beginning they created house music etc etc etc and several of their bookings in the last 18months have had more than a nod and wink to towards the techno sound

To be fair there no point trecking down the "oh error only started in 2006" route, the likes of nicolson were pushing the minimal techno sound for at least 2-3 years previous and with regards to binni he has been there seen it done and got the t-shirt on all things techno since at least 1991.

anyway thats off topic, you are missing what I am saying entirely, I aint saying nights are bad, bookings are bad etc...just that theres too many nights covering a particular style of music

and ultimately this will mean you carve up the numbers going to each night, maybe thats survival of the fittest who knows?, but if / when you are sitting on packed out events in 2 years time then you will be right and I will be wrong, speak to you about it in 2010

    :)

    hardly,

the likes of kai foyen, andy gordon and chris littlewood etc etc etc have been playing for detox since back in 2004 /2005 so its hardly style biting and the likes of ward 10 , habit , made in music etc were asked to play by the person I have programming the house and techno bit

its a hardly throwing on a few hard house / trance names, most of them acts have played for us before

i think it was HOUSE i referred to as that

I am giving up on the debate as people clearly dont get the point that 5-10 nights doing the same sound = a lot less nights doing the sound in 2-3years time

Error was merely a reference point of when we started getting into minimal. You were insinuating that we were bandwagon jumping which frankly is a load of shit.

    i was hardly insinuating THAT

if you read back the threadage on all things lube concerned

ive said adam bayer great booking

& attic - I aint a fan of that venue

you've just said that you got into minimal in 2006 by your point of reference, your words, not mine

to many techno lovers that would appear you came after many others were already purveying that sound

i would suggest your time may be better spent identifying the road runner

    clue - it aint me

good day to you good sir

Well we are 4 in December (excluding several months of Bar parties before) and I would be very surprised if we didn't make it, so I guess we will be in that 10% then...

You can count on one hand how many other nights have lasted this long in Newcastle doing monthly parties. Then you have Shindig who have done it weekly forever !

However, Melt does have a point about probably too many nights with 'similar' music. Will just have to wait and see I guess how it all works out. What is strange is that all the nights are on a Friday and no one has gone for a Saturday (although it is more than likely just down to the lack of venues)

As we all know Melt only does 3/4 parties a year so would be interesting to see what would happen if he ever had the balls to go monthly

danny you have misread what i am saying, by 4 I mean 4th event not 4th birthday lol

last year 'melt' did 5 events with an option to do a 6th in dec which he knocked back

by the end of this year we will have done or been directly involved with 6.

without wanting to get drawn into a war of words with the 'saviour' (as i have alot of time for him) i honestly dont think it takes balls to run monthly: weekly maybe but not monthly plus for example the cosmic ballroom, it is a safe venue with infrastructure bouncers, bar etc all in place

and in reality there is no rocket science behind booking a dj and sorting dates etc, just shear perseverance

I have the option to run every month over the summer on a friday if i want , I choose not to do that as I find that boring and predictable

but hey each to their own

ps: when are you booking warren or wink, cos if you dont I WILL

    Hi Melt.

Happy Birthday (if it is) :groovy:

Maybe using balls was the wrong word. But obviously would be interesting to see how Detox would work out number-wise if it was more regular than one-off's...

They have both played for Shindig in the last year, so we won't be booking either... Did have Warren for Dec 2006 but it fell through due to problems with travel.
