I've seen arguments that prove that the arc theory is completely flawed.

That said, I in no way disagree with seas parting and turning water into wine.

i saw a study and i cant remember the whole shebang but it concluded that there was a massive flood but it was before the time of noah, however it had become a kind of story passed down and it was incorporated into the bible as a moral story... not as a literal history. still i cant remember the full argument but there was good evidence for both sides.

there are massive floods every x thousand years, when the ice melts, covers the land then the world warms up and they receed. its just natural occurance.

That would sound more likely to me, in those days a flood would not have to be all that big depending on the region for people to believe it had taken out the entire planet.

The skeptics annotated bible is where the thing I was reffering to is from.

If people think that is not meant to be taken literally, then I don't see how the idea of god or any of the bible can be either.

"You're not meant to take it literally"
"Then how do I take it"
"Word for word, it is the creation of god"

the old testament doesnt count because jesus brought a new testament to the people, a new set of rules that ended the old way because it wasnt working... thats why if a christian claims an eye for an eye they are actually wrong... it should be turn the other cheek instead

you cant argue with religious nuts if you have no knowledge of anything but you're own beliefs. ;)

A few years back me and my mate got pulled up on Northumberland Street by some religious yank and his cronies who were giving speeches with a microphone. He was getting quite into it and me and my mate started pissing ourselves laughing at the front of the crowd who had gathered around him. He singled us out and started screaming that we would burn in hell for we had sinned and lots of other stereotypical mumbo jumbo.

His mates and later him approached us and started laying into us and asking loads of questions to which as 15 year olds do we completely ripped the piss.

"Jesus made that building to show us gods grandeur"
"Why does it say marks and spencers, 1952"

Infact Loopyloosy if you read this - Remember flyering for Promise at the bigg market and hearing those bafoons claiming that prayer was a proven cure for AIDS and that the media was corrupting our minds into believing in the illusion of modern medicine.

i love them mad evangelists, if you know a thing or two you can run rings about them!

my favourite is when you ask them about muslims going to heaven...

"only people who love jesus can go to heaven"

"but muslims love jesus, he's a prophet in Islam"

    "um... right"

"and jesus is also an enlightened friend of buddah and a minor god in hinduism, so buddhists and hindu's technically can go to heaven"

    "but..."

"and god said he'd never abandon the children of israel who are, you've guessed it, the jews! so they get in too... add to that the innocent and those that give their lives for another and so on... its not that hard to get in really is it"

"ah go fuck yourself and give me back my microphone"

"Shall you sin, you shall got to hell, but jesus gives forgiveness to all who choose to repent"
"So I can enjoy my life, be a cunt and then jesus will simply repent my sins before I go to hell"
"Well no, it doesn't quite work like that"
"Why not, I thought he forgave all men"
"You can't do that, it's cheating"

the thing that boils my piss about all these hippy wanker evangelists is the fact they are the first to point out everyone else's wrongdoings and say people are going to burn in hell, yet they are some of the most fucked up people around

thats why it gets a bad name and the ones who are genuine face abuse and opposition... its always the divisions inside that prevent progress outside

Evolution, yeah I can see the logic behind that.... but people who say that our universe was created by a 'big bang' in which a load of gases collided and exploded (or whatever)... well, where did these gases come from in the very very beginning? How did earth come from nothing? It seems impossible.
So I don't really believe in that theory, either.

I think these things are just too big for our brains to comprehend, y'know. The answer to the meaning of life is out there, but we can't understand it because we don't have the brain capacity?

Humans apparently only use a tiny percentage of their brains though, so perhaps if we could learn to expand our minds/ way of thinking we could one day learn the answers....

aye i definately get where ya coming from there... if you even try to think about the vastness of space or whether timegoes on forevr you'll go mad. maybe thats why i think there might be something in it at the end as there is so much humans cant comprehend despite science.

didn't you say "Religion is for the weak minded who can't accept that there is no higher power." a couple of hours ago?

It gives some people comfort. who cares if they're deludded & misguided fools.

It's when religion is used as an excuses for everything they do i.e. BUSH. - i'm sure i heard something in the past few weeks about bush rubbishing some scientists results becaue 'the went against what god taught us'

When the word of GOD is taken over what SCIENCE FACT gives us - THEN i'd be worried about the inbred hick and his 'bible belt'. freaks.

What was before the big bang? probably just the end of the previous universe. time is infinite.

i have spoken. i tell the truth. now accept the fact and move along.
