no love, some of us are intelligent.

To be honest I couldn't give two shits what happens to saddam, he's going to be sentenced to life mprisonment or death, as I'd say its a safe bet to say he's no peace loving bhuddist monk.

I'm more concerned on what effect his capture will have on the military occupation and the iraqi resitance... does nayone think it'll make any real difference?

I wonder if he was actually captured anyways.... After the USA faked the recue of that female soldier that was being held "hostage" - it wouldnt surprise me if they have had him interrogated for months, and release news of his "capture" when its pollitically advantageous for them to do so...

The problem i have in believing this is; fine they took a dna swab but what did they check it against? Where did they get Saddam Hussains dna prior to the capture from?

Nah, Mick was right, all I want is for people to get fair trials and to be treated as inocent until proven otherwise. I know, I'm such a lefty.

What a lot of people are overlooking is the fact that a trial that sentances this evil (and there is NO disputing that) shit to death could have far reaching consequences. Under the laws in Iraq, where he may be tried, he will probably get the death penalty. Good I hear people say. Bollocks, sentance him to death and he becomes a martyr, and we all know how much Islamic fundamentalists love their martyrs. Another 'worthy' cause with which to commit a string of atrocities, only this time in Saddams name. He should get a fair trial and face the punishment he gets (life imprisonment, and not a cushy prison imo), because he will be proved to be guilty and will go down. People should think about the consequences in a case like this, after all Saddam is not your average murderer...

hard to say.. the people who have been so loyal to him may not be very impressed he gave himself up without a fight despite his encouragements for them to give their lifes for the cause!

i dont know how his trial could be fair but of course he should get one as close to being fair as possible - that way i'm sure the truth of the extent of his crimes will come out and he well be duly sentanced to life imprisonment

I read about a month ago in one of the papers that they thought they had tracked Bin Laden down to within 20 square miles. But it is all in Pakistani territory, so they cant go looking for him.

Probably bollocks, cant remember which paper it was.

I heard on the news ages ago that initial reports had verified his capture... only for it to be said it was some other terrorist with a large beard resembling Bin Laden (hmm conspiracy anyone?). They will have intelligence, but Afghanistan and Pakistan are tough terrains with not many friends to rely on.

for now they've suspended the death penantly in Iraq so unless they change it just for him they couldn't execute him if he's tried in Iraq. You're right about all the martyr stuff but the fact that he gave himself up without a fight has pretty much stuffed that I reckon.

ussr patriot, in my eyes Dubya is guilty of an illegal war against a country that was no immediate threat, and countless crimes against humanity and should be hauled up at the Hague to account.

Just last week american troops "accidently" killed several afghan children in botched raids.... wonder why that didn't make the front page of the Sun

rachel rob was trying to point out how gullible you are you believe anything for example:

    I haven't had chin implants
    I don't have a kid
    yada yada yada.

anything someone tells you - you believe.. why is the media any different - rob was merely highlighting the fact that we have a media that doesn't always portray situations in the most liberal of lights.

how hard and time consuming can writing an essay about kids be :p

All rob was saying is don't take what you see on the news as gospel... I remember this time last year you were worried iraq was going to bomb us with nuclear weapons... because u'd read they could in the sun... It is now clear this could neever of happened.

    the media is not fact.
