    Shindig: "It's Not Where We've Been...But Where We're Going..."

After 17 years of non-stop weekly clubbing, it’s time we spread our wings a little.

As of August 2009 Shindig will no longer reside in Digital on Saturday nights.

We are inviting you to party with us for our last ever Saturdays in the Digital domain during July. Our final send off being on Saturday 18th July with special guest LAIDBACK LUKE and, as always, our team of loyal residents...

So, the tongues start wagging. We hear you say “Are there problems?”, “Can’t they handle the Ladyboys of Bangkok this year?” , “Is it because that clubber with the headphones keeps coming?”, well no, not really. From starting out as a place for two bedroom DJs to play their records, to running every week for 17 years, Shindig has achieved what no other club in the North East has done.

Shindig has given us great pride. These two bedroom DJs still love clubbing and all it has given us.

This ever-changing musical and financial climate demands evolution, and with our weekly restraints removed we can now develop and explore new spaces. Shindig on Saturday’s with it's peerless mixture of exciting new guests and worldwide talent will be manifesting into a new entity entirely. Our future is exciting us..

Don’t worry though, as well as new exciting spaces, Shindig will still be hosting large scales events on alternate nights back at Digital on the North’s biggest sound system. Look out for a big August Bank Holiday production, along with further planned events rolling into the autumn months.

    "It's Not Where We've Been...But Where We're Going"
    Shindig 2009.

My guess - shindig are going to re-enact the terrace at space in times square, by lugging the stacks out of digital and turning the volume up to 11...

    actually, there's an idea ;)

So there. I know it's all about a change but still a sad day to see one of the longest running weekly nights stop being on a weekly basis.

I suppose it was inevitable. From what I've seen over the last few months the dig has had some awesome lineups, yet some of them have still failed to fill the main room at digital. I suppose it's just a sign of the times.

Still, I look forward to seeing what they have in store...

So if they're saying it's the last Saturday at Digital I can only assume they're going to do the odd Fridays like GG and GK are doing now, as well as bank holiday Sundays etc. Blatantly obvious what avenue Digital will go down for Saturdays now....Hed-Kandi-tastic!!

No disputing any of that... (bar the guy with the headphones maybe ;) ).

Longest standing club night in the North East & I daresay one of the largest of whats remaining of the handful of weekly nights of this kind/size/length of time running/ in the whole of the UK. Lets just hope that the shitty state this Country's in at the moment decides to sort itself sooner rather than later & you's can get back on your feet.

Best of luck lads & I mean that...

    cheers Gary..
We are still on our feet.. but have decided to make sure we stay that way during what could be a long tough summer..

52 weeks a year was getting a tall order in a huge space..
Less often and condensed is the way forward..

As we said in the above.. our future excites us..

Thinking about it, it's probably the wisest, yet toughest, decsioin you've probably had to make. Kudos to you all for actually having the balls to do it!!
