He has had normal school trips too, Hall Hill, Beamish, The Beach, Chester Park, He goes on Nature walks every Friday morning, but they are also taking them to garden centres, B & Q etc to look at recycling and the affects it has. I think its a good idea to learn the kids from an early age about saving energy etc. Global Warming etc will be worse when he is my age.

the problem which is a knock on effect from this is that some of those kids are themselves having children at a really young age too. seeing as they've had a really crap upbringing they have no idea how to bring up a kid and help them develop.

it'll only get worse too :(

It takes a special kind of person to be a teacher yet the government seem to think that throwing £6k at any old moron with a degree to entice them to be a teacher is going to sort the problem.

I think nearly everybody tries to be the best parent they can. It's easy to slag them off, but if you don't have an education yourself then you won't know why education is important for your kids.
All parents make mistakes but most make them whilst trying to put right what they saw as bad in their own upbringing. Either that or they just repeat the mistakes their own parents made.
When you see some woman screaming her head off at some little kid and battering him about it's depressing to think that the kid will learn to be violent when frustrated. And do it to their own kids.

Being a teacher myself, i see many situations like these on a daily basis. It really breaks my heart!!
I work in a inner city school in Liverpool (literally in the centre of the city centre) and most of the children i teach have never even left the city.
They long to go to places like the beach, national parks and farms, but instead they trawl the streets of Liverpool looking for entertainment!! :( I see some of my Year 6 children walking aroung town at like 10/11 at night if i've been out for a meal or something! It terrible!

I'm not saying all of the children in my class are like this, but at least 70% are far too street wise for their own good.

A fine example of such, occured at school the other week. We had an assembly from Marie Carie, talking about sunscreen etc.
She asked the question 'what would you take with you to the beach? Most kids would say bucket and spade, towel etc, etc.....but my kids said a football and money to go shopping. The lady was like have you even been to the beach?? Only 2 had in a class of 24! Shocking!

So its up to people like me to give children such life expeirences, not only on a personal level, but at an educational level also. Without such valuable, lasting learning expereinces, some children can't write imaginativly, speak openly etc!

Haha, i could write so much more but i'll stop there. Such a shame. We were soooo lucky! :)

I dont like the idea of businesses coming in and marketing their shit to our kids .... non related industries is one thing, but 'grooming' kids is another eh.

With all the money being thrown at schools these days - it makes you wonder if its being spent in the right way ..... surely there was less cash going spare when we were kids and i'd say we got a better education.

I feel sorry for people who spend their entire lives doing one exam after the next their whole life - only to be dumped at the end of it with no decent skills.

Bring back trips to farms, parks and the seaside!
