Connections to the country wouldn't result in the global community issuing over 100 complaints... Thats more complaints than any other nation.

Thats not forgetting that in the early days Israel was the underdog - they weren't a dominant force.

Antisemitism existed for 3500 years, to suddenly think it has disappeared is absurd - its just rebranded as anti-Zionism (I'm not implying that every anti-zionist is an antisemite)

BOB you're talking shit, Israel invaded Lebaonon because they were unable to control Hezbollah - when you combine Lebanon's pathetic military with the outside influence Hezbollah brings (Iran and Syria) Lebanon didn't have a chance of controling the terrorist group.

As a result Israels only chance of assuring national security is taking Hezbollah out themselves.

Ireland had a powerful enough military and police force to control the IRA, as a result the IRA were never in a position where they could fire rockets into England... If this weren't the case England would of invaded Ireland.

And I think its a little rich claiming the Israeli's started the conflict whenit was Hezbollah that launched an unprovoked attack on Israel (the rockets started falling at the same time as Israel attacked.... its no suprise that Hezbollah had hundreds of launchable rockets on the Israeli border!)

Is it because david kicked Goliaths lanky anus in the year dot ?

Or is it just another terror group trying to get its own way and creating a war .

I'm not saying the situations were identical, simply drawing parallels that are easily understandable for others. I just don't think Israel had the right to make the initial retaliation in the way it did, just as I think the attack on Gaza is out of proportion to the kidnap of one soldier. It's adding fuel to the fire against Israel and I think it is heading towards suicidal.

I could understand if they were only attacking Hezbollah, but the numbers of civilian casualties are inexcusable.

Hezbollah are a Lebanese Liberation Militia.

But I believe their raison d'etre is an objective they share with most Islamic fundamental organisations.

    A hatred of the west.

For centuries the Muslim empires dominated the world, the west looked eastward for military and cultural enlightenment while cowering at the thought of the Saracen sword, but this Islamic Golden Era also lay the foundations of the western Enlightenment which acted as the catalyst that propelled western civilisation far beyond the marvels of Islam.

Israel came to represent this occidental success in a weak and humbled Muslim world scrabbling to assert the power it once represented.

The Muslim world has been left feeling belittled and humiliated at the almost instantaneous role reversal, radical fundamentalists see themselves as Islams last hope... They don't hate Israel because the jews subscribe to a rival religion.... They hate Israeli's because we were once their Dhimmi and the tables have now turned.

I don't think you understand how these neighbourhoods work, its not like they targeted byker... The residential areas under Hezbollah control are militant segregated communities (similar to the zionist settler ocmmunities of Israel)... Hezbollah uses these armed communities as human shields.

Israel dropped flyers warning non-combatants to leave Hezbollah controlled areas before launching the strikes.

How do you propose Israel rescue their troops if they can't use force!?!?!??!?

I know it's not the same as targetting Byker! And if I had the answers, I wouldn't be sitting in an office in London talking about it on a message board. :p

The Maccabees: Jewish rebels who fought against the rule of Antiochus IV Epiphanes of the Hellenistic Seleucid dynasty, who was succeeded by his infant son Antiochus V Eupator. The Maccabees founded the Hasmonean royal dynasty and established Jewish independence in the Land of Israel for about one hundred years, from 165 BCE to 63 BCE.
