Most of all, the former Iraqi administration built a secular society, high ranking members of the Ba'ath party are Christian.. establishing a secular society to me is of great challenges that countries like Iran and Iraq face..

Americas big axe grind with the Iraq comes from the fact that they successfully managed to expropriate our oil companies a long time ago, they hated the fact that someone else held the cards, anti-semitism and human rights abuses where of little concern to the US, theres far worse going on in countries the world over whose governments would be far easier to depose than Sadam, they just didn't happen to sit on a vast oil field oilfield, occupation of which would not only appease the less than savoury Saudi administration, place the mining, gas and oil operations in US control, but also leave them slap bang next to the second largest proven natural gas and oil reserves in the world, Iran.

Im not arguing Sadam wasn't evil, but much of the hatred comes from the Shi'a who oppose secularism and the Kurds who despise the arabs, its a power struggle, one which we started by seeding power to the Sunni's.
