Suzuki Vitara. It's a 1.6, so not a mahoosive engine either.

That's my point! Quite a few 4x4s do significantly more than that, yet they receive a blanket condemnation (not necessarily in tax terms, just people having a go at them).

Finger pointing seems to be the big thing these days unfortunately - as far as taxation goes at least.

Brown WANTED this situation, there are many scenarios stemming from this budget, all of which allow Brown to point the finger at his successor, when he finally makes it into number 10.

But this one, in light of the way Brown has went about this "tax cut", has really made me think about who I will be giving my vote to at the next election.

M4 money supply currently stands at 13% ..... which means in 5 years time, at this rate - that the pound in your pocket will have half half the purchasing power than it has today.

    Theft

Absolutely nothing to do with it at all unfortunately Joe ;)

M4 money supply is the rate at which new money is being 'created out of thin air' by the bank of england and introduced into the economy - Its generally a non physical action (the money is just figures added to a banks credit)

The new 20 quid notes are replacing the old ones, so aye you could say they are new money .... but (i assume) for every one they introduce, they are binning an old 20.

Yeppers - and the expansion of that is 13% PA

So every pound you have, is 13% less 'powerful' than it was the previous year based on that.

its got nothing to do with the expansion, the expansion is just how much money is in circultion - a propsering nation witnesses an expansion.

It only becomes an issue if money supply grows at a faster rate than GDP growth.... your putting up one half of the equation and assuming it means disaster for the economy.

Yeah - and GDP was 3% last year ..... ;)

So 3% supposed economy 'growth' (i say supposed, since borrowing constitutes gdp) .... yet 13% rise in money in circulation.

    ...... 10% devaluation of your money ;)

if you want a real picture

    velocity x m0 = GDP x measure of inflation

Your sum makes no sense ;)

(youre also using the figures of two seperate years  )

I feel like Andy_rocks versus the power of Joe and google/wikipedia here ;)

.... my coffee aint quite kicked in yet - so lets go back to the M4 expansion of 12.8 (and not 13.0) for the previous year against the 3% GDP growth for that year.

No matter how hard you argue it - the man on the street is still getting fucked up the arse as his income erodes in value ;)

I cant be arsed either - but money supply of over 4 times the rate of GDP ... is not good.
