i'll get slated for this but i'm sorry , the whole tax for greener thing is a con on the average joe again.
seriously if the government really want to stop pollution its really easy and can be done in a week.
stop formula 1 and other racing (motorcycle,go-cart,rally,etc)
    stop all internal flights
stop all non nrg saving lightbulbs being made
stop all non nrg saving electrical EQ being produced
stop all heating thermostats from going higher than 25 degrees
stop the production (or sales) of all cars over 2.5L in uk
    stop the uk space programme
    stop the war in iraq
stop the red arrows and other airshows
stop shops etc from leaving the advertising lighting on all night
stop standby on all electrical EQ

the list can go on ..
the only thing the government want from us in reality is TAX

I don't think that the likes of banning red arrows is going to cure pollution in a week.

you can't "cure" pollution full stop !!
but there are many other ways of cutting it than just taxing the average person.

In an industrialised society like this one, you can't stop it either. I don't think that most of that is going to make much difference when we have factories pouring toxic clouds of shite into the atmosphere and chemical byproducts being disposed of into the ground on a mass scale.
