Be first in line for what? A two bed flat/house? Yes they would as the single male would instantly be under occupying the property. A one bed flat or bedsit? the single male would get the property as the single women with kid would be over occupying the property. There is criteria but not targets for ethnic, nationality, race or sexual orientation.
Well the newcastle one works on the how long youve been a tenant So ive been a tenant with northumbria for 2 years so if someone with 3 years bids they get 1st offer :groovy:
YHN & all the Registered Social Landlords in Newcastle operate Choice-Based Lettings: http://www.communities.gov.uk/housing/housingmanagementcare/choicebasedlettings/ The key part being Priority is given to those with urgent needs, but where possible properties are allocated on the basis of who has been waiting the longest.
I suppose my case could be classed as urgent - im hoping the newcastle advice centre on Monday will help me So fingers crossed! Spence thanks for the advice as well much appreciated! if you make detox will buy you a pint
Your all right, I do it for a living :groovy: Try building up a personnel relationships with a housing officer at one or more of Newcastle's RSL's will also go a long way.
There are that many people on waiting lists the day people start getting homes because they have been on list a long time is more than likely a lifetime away.
It is a very stressful time for people & the ante has been upped due to people unable to keep up with there mortgage payments meaning more "homeless" people joining waiting lists.
That happened to us when my mum died could afford the rent so we were booted out which is why im even more stressed they may have temporary digs which will do or i might have to crash at my sisters for a bit
If you crash at your sisters make sure you update your application form (or forms) so they know where you are living is overcrowded. Also if your sister is only willing to put you up for a month or 2 get a letter from her stating when you will be homeless.
Yeah she would she could do with the extra cash to be fair but she has 3 children! il type her a letter or something that buys me a bit of time i suppose
Spence took your advice and now have a 2 bed flat to view on Monday not far from Gosforth but its better than a kick in the teeth, i owe you one
