Looks good to me so far. Glad to see them taking a step back from the Big Brother society we seemed to be heading towards with Labour.

i know. sounding like a complete hypocrite but the civil liberties section was quite appealing. however - i really cant see them making much difference.

i bet they'll save a massive wedge on scrapping ID cards and the passports.

    - I voted LibDem.
    - I absolutely did not want a Tory government.
    - But, given the election result we got, Clegg made the best of a bad situation.

Im genuinely interested to hear what people who think Clegg has sold out actually think he should have done? Because nobody seems to have suggested an alternative.

the fact you dont KNOW speaks volumes frank

where do you want me to start

thatcher the milk snatcher - 70's
fucked the mining industry - 80s
    fucked the railways - 80s and 90s
sold off all the public utilities - 80s 90s and longer

had inflation running at 15% in early 90s when mr cameron was a member of norman lamonts treasury team - thats norman the worst chancellor ever in the history of the uk lamont

tory liberal pact = fuck the public sector workers

and then watch out for impending strikes

in a way good news for labour as they still polled 250 plus seats at the peak of a fucking recession with an unpopular but sound leader

with a milliband - johnson dream ticket labour will piss on the tories if they keep cameron
and as for clegg he is hardly a winner he fucking polled 5 less seats than in the last election and gets to be camerons rent boy but wait til the next election he will get screwed !!!!

    that is all

Inflation was coming down before the tories lost power. It was up in the numbers you were quoting in the early 80s not 90s, showing your age I reckon!

Might also be worth pointing out Labour were the ruling party 1974 to 1979 which had inflation between 12 and 27% - the highest on record

It might also be noted that every single time Labour get into power, they leave the country in financial ruin! Back in the 70's the Labour government had to go to the IMF for a 'bail out' and look what's happening to Greece right now.

You've had 13 years of a country financing its 'success' with a credit card. All those public sector jobs we didnt need, all those pricey public projects nobody wanted, massive house price inflation, student debt .... all these things are NOW coming back to haunt us.

Those rose tinted spectacles are in danger of becoming blinkers ;)

I HAVE NEVER VOTED, AND SUPPORT NO POLITICAL PARTY WHATSOEVER.

it was only coming down cos the economy was coming out of recessionand it couldnt get much fucking worse than 15% and ken clarke did a decent job as chancellor - he is the anly tory worth listening too

other than that the tory's constantly preside over boom and bust econmic policies cos they like to reward the yuppies and fuck the common man despite what they say

they even re-drew the fucking boundaries in the 80's to keep themsleves in power far longer than they should ever have been allowed to.

I agree the winter of discontent was bad but you can't hold that up andsay oh labour was shit 1977 - 1979 when dennis healey turned back at the airport and had to go infront of the select commitee as some kind of slpogan to say "oh this means david cameron will be mint"

I give the cameron clegg love in 18months if that and then the toff will be getting pressured by the twats in his party to call another election and shaft the liberals.

you think it means anything that they have a gentlemans agreement that the parliament is 5 years, thats just a carrot to get clegg to prop up his government and clegg has been seen for what his is - power hungry - bought off by a nothing job - deputy prime minister is just rent boy to the main man and no better than a glorifed tea maker

long term the tory party will bin cameron - its britains got the toff factor

i mean what the fuck is the difference between clegg and cameron

that they dont want crazy jimmi in a nuclear powered sub

yeah but if you take away the constituency seats system and just go by the total overall percentages of the votes, the entire parliament would be made up of tories and labour... so its not ideal, but its better than other ideas

Bit confusing there absolutely did not want but he made the best of bad situation by getting you absolutely what did not want.

Personally I would have liked a minority government with a election within 12 to 18 months. Of course minority governments have problems i.e getting things through parliament but with the promise of a election in 12 to 18 months & maybe the opposition operate without whips parliament could of got by. The result we still have 3 main political parties, never thought I would see Liberals snuggling upto someone like IDS.

The big problem for Nicky was he got a buzz after the 1st TV debates & so did his band of merry men & he thought he was going to be front runner & started thinking of power, so when the reality of the exit polls, the results hit him, he then got a offer from Dave he snatched at it & in doing so got none his boys got any decent jobs. For me Clegg is the most powerful Lib Dem in my lifetime but at the same time the worst poltical leader they have ever had……..well he was better than interim leader Vince "Sunday Mail" Cable.
