Doesn't make weed any better though.

    It's nasty.

im not saying it makes it ok and safe, what im saying is alcohol affects people lives too, so why is that legal? stoners dont want to go out and cause fights, so why are we being punished?

is there conclusive evidence that alcohol can directly lead to forms of schizophrenia?

how much alcohol is cut with ket / smack / plastic / soap powder etc? making it legal wont change this... in fact i doubt itll change anything...

im not anti weed at all - just anti "weed is the acceptable drug" bullshit opinions.

then dont buy resin, resin is unnatural, its got chemicals and all sorts of shit in, simple, dont smoke it, no wonder the people you know are getting skitzed, they are smoknig dirty dirty tac!!!!!

Cannabis, in its true form is natural, picked fresh from the plant, surely it cant be worse for you than poisoning your body with litres and litres of alcohol? so why is that still legal?

Alcohol has been socially acceptable for centuries in this country... it is illegal under islamic law tho whereas some islamic countries are more lenient towards cannabis. So it is down to geographical location as well as politics.

I agree with tom tho, I know the flatmate he lived with and lived with someone myself. The guy I lived with who went schitzophrenic (sp?) did not touch resin, he hated the stuff. But he smoked large quantities of skunk and grass which have a much higher THC concentration than resin and therefore the chemical effect is much stronger. Liken it to one person drinking a pint of lager and another drinking a pint of vodka!

There are countless reasons why cannabis is still illegal... i've heard loads of stories, an interesting one being... its (hemps) early rivalry (early 20th century I think) with cotton, and with Britain having a close relationship with the cotton producing US, cotton obviously came out tops and hemp became illegal because the US outlawed its sale (or something similar anyway). Whether there is any truth in it is up for debate but i'm sure everyone has heard a reason at some point for it being illegal!

But in the end, putting certain chemicals into your body in various quantities is not safe, there are negative effects and people do suffer whether it be a minority or majority. The question I like to ask is should the individual be responsible for what they put in their own bodies? IMHO... yes :)

why would they cut a relatively cheap drug with more expensive ones?

you must be getting it off some dodgy fuckers if you get that shit in it...

the government should make it legal to grow your own, as they say they are trying to stop the dealers, surely this would help to do so?

also it can and does cause mood/personality alterations in people who smoke large amounts, but doesn't alcohol do the same when it comes to alcoholics?

thats my point!!! Ive the seen alcohol wreck the lives of more than one person, but it doesnt just wreck their lives, its the children, friends, and family who feel it the most!! People dont get abusive when they have a smoke, but drink is notorious for making people get violent and agressive. I can see the good and bad points of smoking weed, i know it can fuck you up, and has fucked people up, but the point im trying to get accross is why are killers like alcohol and tabs still legal?

and as smoggle said, its up to us what we put in our bodies, so why should we have restrictions on our choices by the law? Drugs which kill and are extremley dangerous yes, but weed is on the same level as tabs and drink, imo!

weed does have more THC in it, but resin is by far far worse for you, not only health wise, but mentaly aswell, as scruff said, people do put plastic and all sorts of shit in it. The all around chemical effect is far far stronger if you smoke resin, because its got loads and loads of shit in it, which is what fucks you up most, weed doesnt have all this shit in, yeah its got THC in which can fuck you up, but you get none of the other toxic chemicals which you get in dirty tac!

Agreed! Tac is nasty, coming from teesside I have had some bad stuff! I have tripped off resin before and apparently it is cut with smack to lead users onto harder drugs. Although I have always been dubious about this, there is supposed to be some truth in it. I would argue that some resin is worse than other types and that the effects differ greatly. I can now generally distiguish shite tac from decent stuff.

My main point is that cannabis in all its forms is potentially dangerous, but so are other legal things. I think a person should generally be trusted with what they want to put in their own body. :)

Haha, true! Its so easy for the government to get an 'expert' to crawl out of the woodwork. I technically could call myself an expert as I have seen and experienced a whole spectrum of effects and cannabis types! Weed is becoming more socially acceptable and this should be a good thing in the long run. The main things in the way of it being decriminalised or legalised are very complex and contradictory government policies that will keep it illegal for a good few years yet. I'm thinking once our generations are in power, there will be far more educated decisions regarding drugs... hope so anyway! :)

and that, is why it is illegal.

end of the day, will it make a difference wether its legalised or not? its hardly a social drug- as in 'going out' drug is it? its not gonna make it any cheaper - in fact it'll likely make it vastly more expensive...

yes, but i wont be breaking the law by smoking a joint in the street! personally i dont think its worse than smoking a tab in the street. i long for the day where i can go in a bar and spark up a joint, rather than having to leave, go round the corner, and hide while smoknig it.

It will be most likely cheaper as importing it directly from the source in bulk will take out all the costs that increase as it moves around the world (ie afghanistan to pakistan to holland to UK is gonna make the price spiral). Without dealers and handlers to pay off it will be available to the legal importers at a far lower price. The government will tax it, and tax it heavily, but this still will not compare to the inflated prices now. Cannabis is available in huge quantities in source countries and is comparatively cheap for the original buyer.

As for letting people choose, that is a moral decision. I still feel that as far as crime and violence are concerned alcohol is potentailly more dangerous.
