I have no idea which bands are obscure it appears so the whole subject confuses me.

I tend to like the music I like and not worry too much about how cool that is. :D

Back on topic, I think it's important that it is clear who we are talking about here.

Rob- I think 'them'= asylum seekers and/or illegal immigrants. And obscure bands = any that appear in Eyeball's posts.

I don't think that chucking these people out of the country is a workable solution.

I think that we need to reduce the provision of benefits to the point that the lifestyle is undesirable. At that point people will work.

For example, should people be allowed to have tv licences if they are on benefits? Should they be allowed to travel out of the uk?

I know it appears extreme but we have to motivate people into work whilst still leaving a minimal provision in place so people can feed and house themselves.

I dont think cutting there benefits would achieve anything, theyll just claim its a breach of there human rights or were being racist

I wouldnt mind seeing them volunteering to work i.e in a charity shop or in an elderley home helping needy people

Crime would just increase massively if things like that were introduced imo.

isnt the woman in question a refugee who is going to be killed when she returns due to a bloke she was married to?

you are a wise man rob, there are a couple of methods i think would be effective.

For instance if someone has to go to sessions on interveiw techniques or parenting there would be alot more people going out looking for work. When i see these idiot charvers going to the dole office with a big smile on their faces, knowing they are older than me and i am paying taxes for them to go and buy a pouch of tobbaco and a packet of zig-zags it pisses me off.

Like you say, tv licences and passports should be privellages to the people who deserve it. This would no doubt set the people who sponge straight. You could do this with other desireable items such as driving licences.

I know what you mean when you say it is drastic but in order to set the country straight we need to make drastic changes!

Why, do you presume that everyone who takes the benefits system for all it's worth is criminal?

I'd say they are smart if anything for playing a crap system.

    It doesn't add up.

Lets face it though, i'd bet a huge percentage of people on the dole/benefits aren't snowy white.
I'd bet a a lot of them deal drugs or deal in stolen goods etc etc to fund their lives, who knows.
If we took away things like you mentioned above they'd just find ways around it - equalling more crime.

    Fair point
