Unless you have the pallette of a total food connaseiour you wouldnt be able to tell what cut of meat it is if they were all cooked the same.

you could cook fillet and make it rubbery and cook a "cheap" cut of beef to perfection and make it taste great.

i could all cuts of a cow have a totally different feel to them, all i would need to do is push down on it gently and i could tell what it was, trust me i use to be a chef and its not hard to tell the difference between cuts.

Rubbish.. well in some respects.. the cut primarily varies the tenderness, porterhouse being the most, then fillet, sirloin, rump and so on... I've probably missed a few out there, but beef varies massively..

No matter how hard you try to tenderise a piece of rump you'll never turn it into a fillet.. you can't polish a turd after all...

Most supermarket beef is useless anyways - it has to be hung properly (which it isnt) to develop the flavour and tenderise it naturally.

The good stuff should almost be brown/bruise like coloured - not the dodgy all red/pink thing that you get in most supermarkets.

Granted, its hard and expensive to buy decent meat for most people - who has the time.

The best place for Sunday lunch is Shiremoor House Farm.

And for the record, I think sirloin has more flavour than fillet, though fillet is more tender.

Cursory knowledge of the differences between one cut of meat and another hardly requires anymore culinary knowledge than your average housewife, pea brain.

Fancy showing us your gimpish web adventures again to refresh our memories of what a depraved little freak you are, Micky?
