Not fussed on Australia, I wanna go somewhere which doesn't have a predominately western culture.

New Zealand and Fiji appeal though.:D

    >Linzi: I wanna go away thats why!

What about South America? Anyone been? Watching planet earth has made me wanna go, especially around the Amazon.

    Brid's been to Peru

I'm off to Brazil in 6 weeks so can tell you what that's like when i return (as can at beep)

I have been to R\usia, Siberia, outer mongolia, china (briefly) & japan in 1 trip...

also been to thailand & cambodia

vietnam & laos are on the hit list along with china (properly) & india, singapore, malaysia & borneo

I love asia...the people are awesome & it's an amazing place to go

if you go to asia & you're travelling for a few months i would reccomend you go to thailand (north & south), cambodia, vietnam & laos at least

Also if the pennies permit, japan...it's not the cheapest but it's just un real

you need to hunt on ebay for some chea lonely planet guides :D

or look on the websites for www.roughguides.com (travel talk) & the thorn tree forum on www.lonelyplanet.com for other peoples experiences

i could talk a glass eye to sleep about the places i've visited

Rach - i wanted "get's around a bit" on my work badge but they deemed it unsuitable so i have "seasoned traveller" on instead :(

    depends on where you go...

both asia & south america are expenny to get there but once you're there you can do it all as cheap as chips...

accomodation is cheap & nice...i paid £10 a night b&b in chiang mai (thailand) for a 5-6* hotel

give me ideas of where you want to go & i'll try to work out an aproximate for ya...kinda :D

e.g. flights to thailand £650 tops, internal flights to cambodia from thailand £40 ... we spent £450 (tops) between 2 of us in 18 nights)..some accomodation was already booked tho

brazil £600 to get there, £400 for internal flights to visit more unusual places :)

russia trip inc everything it cost £3k top...that inluded flights to russia & back from japan to heathrow, the trans-mongolian from moscow to beijing, train from st petersburg to moscow, train from beijing to shanghai, ferry from shanghai to osaka & trains all around japan. we got to stay for free in parts of japan but included ferry travel between islands, food, gifts, etc etc
