Completed 2 exams of 4....not been too bad for the (lack of) work that I've done tbf....though the annoying thing is I'm on that border between 2:2 and 2:1 and if I actually work hard enough I'll scrape through, but whether I can be arsed to work hard enough is another matter

Also, my dissertation is worth 33% of this year and I don't find out the grade until after exams, which is pissing annoying since it makes a MASSIVE difference!!!

Not really - University lecturers are there more for the research than the actual teaching, ok yeah if they are really crap then you can complain, but usually nothing will be done until the year after and even then not much might happen! Universities care about lecturers doing research and writing papers --> brings money and reputation to the university. It's unfortunate, but true!

One of our REALLY CRAP lecturers recently got taken off the teaching staff and instead is just a research staff in the department - he's incredibly intelligent and way ahead in his field, but he's useless at lecturing, sigh.

I didn't but few of my friends did, I live in walbottle though yeah.

Well good to know things don't just go wrong at my uni, all as bad as eachother it seems!

a week and a day to go though, and today is last 'proper' exam, next week is a TCT and is only worth 30% of a 10 credit module...so should be a breeze.

    Todays exam though....urgh.

the amount of handouts, help, instruction - it's not about self directed learning anymore.

i heard 1 student complaining that a lecturer hadn't had the lecture notes ready and printed out for the START of the lecture for her to collect as she had to go somewhere. is attending lectures too difficult? is writing your own notes too difficult too?

*sigh* it were different in my day... we drove cars like the flintones...

    Course there is

Officially...Each tutor has a rating out of 5 (1 the best) and if you are marked above 3 on more than 2 or 3 assements (usually class observatios by a Course Manager/Head of subject) then its bye bye. The only problem arises is if your college/uni is oversubscribed and then they have to keep them on simply because there is noone to teach the pupils......

I had to do a resit last year and they decided to plonk us in a room which had major drilling work going on above it. Noone could concentrate so we all left early without answering anything, complained to the head and all got given 60%

The amateur (and I mean amateur) comedian? Im sure he practices his routines in the mirror before he comes in on a morning. I also would bet my bottom dollar that he got bullied at school.
