Because your only thinking about yourself.

Your just thinking about how you want to die to not have to deal with everything thats making you have suicidal thoughts.

If you commit suicide you dont stop to think about all the people you hurt in the process, like your friends and family and how much they'll miss you and how shit their life will be after you die.

It is your life and you can do what you want with it.

Maybe it will be hard for family and friends, but what if your life is so bad that it's hard for yourself. What if everyday was like hell? Some people feel like this, and it's there choice.

So that makes it selfish non? :dunce:

ok then cocker. let's say you were in severe physical pain everyday and you felt like you had no other option. You would kill yourself. Some people feel like this mentally.

If your saying that is selfish then everything we do is selfish because everything in one way or another is done for oneself.

killing yourself doesn't mean you don't care about how your family will feel.

If i told my parents I was going to move away abroad, they wouldn't be happy about it but it would be what I wanted. Is this selfish?

No i wouldnt kill myself. I wouldnt even contemplate ever killing myself. No matter what happened in my life im sure theres many people worse off.

Sure we do alot of things for ourselves but we also think about or actions before we do them and weigh up if its worth it and we also think about how it would affect others. right and wrong is something most are taught from a young age.

I guarantee that if you could do something for yourself but you knew that if you did it would hurt people you cared about you wouldnt do it. Like say cheat on your girlfriend you could think well i wanna have sex with this girl i dont care about my girlfriend ill just fuck her....

No you wouldnt do that, you'd most probably think about your girlfriend and not do it or wouldnt even think about it in the first place, If you did youd be a tosser and selfish as you were only thinking about yourself and didnt think about how much yo would hurt her.

In the same way someone commiting suicide doesnt think about how much they would hurt the people who love them.

Thats a bit different really though isnt it.

Its moving away not killing yourself, and they might miss you but they'd get to see you again.

I dont see your point? Your not hurting them your just moving away and they would miss you.

On the flipside, isnt it just as selfish for a family member/friend to want someone they care about to go on even if they are in such a bad way?

People seem to be quick to dismiss mental illness as its not as visible as physical illness but I bet its just as painful (if not worse)

It is a good point. They don't want me to go and it would hurt them not seeing me very often but i do it anyway because that is what i want to do with my life.

Do you not think the family are selfish? The person obviously wants to die but the family want him alive because they don't want to be hurt. Thus they're selfish.

:spangled: :spangled: :spangled: ? many people cheat on their parters on a regular basis. I can't say I see the relation here.

Sorry but I totally disagree with your view of the situation and obviously you are totally dismissing a great deal of possible factors and purely taking it for face value with no consideration of the circumstances

I'm with French William on this one

I was just using it as an example of selfishness where you hurt someone rather than just doing something for yourself i know its not relevant to suicide.

Peoples right to be allowed to end their lives as and when they please totally overwrites any act of so called selfishness.

Surely anyone who stands against this is as selfish, because they are only caring about their own bad feelings induced by said suicide.

Anyone who is pushed to whatever point in their mind, where they take it upon themselves to kill both their family, and themselves - is way beyond comprehending whether their actions are cowardly or selfish ..... what he's done is totally horrific, but i pity him more than anything.

Wrestlers seem to have a habit of burning out early in their lives - from all the steroids, recreational drugs, painkillers and the constant life on the road ...

A great pity, i used to enjoy watching him a few years back when i used to watch WWE - his actions now aside, he was a great talent.

from what i know of him, he was an intelligent and highly respected athlete in his field who has always taken his role seriously - be it with his fans and other wrestlers. To go from that to this situation, is the big shocker.

yeah, he was a wrestler/body builder, probably on lots of pain killers as most are, but these are always the first to be blamed.

To kill his family, then himself is a tragic story, he must have been very ill

Suicide is the easy way out of that situation - whatever got him there in the first place to commit those acts THEN the guilt of what he'd done - there was only ever 1 outcome - thats the tragedy

None of us knew him, or anything about him really - and we'll probably never - something must have been seriously wrong
