and the thread title was to do with advancement so even if stuff has been around longer than 5 years, it doent stop it advancing.

Hence the home broadband argument.

Only the hardcore few could be arsed with using anything beyond email and HTML on Dialup, with Broadband we have a huge amount of content available to us, on a timescale that is not prohibitive.

Just my 2 CP, from what I see in the world around me, completely unsubstantiated

I'd have said cable if we had it in Consett, but we haven't...so I'll stick with us getting a colour TV.

I love the way every1 goes on about things that are available from the likes of Dixons or what only involves their own life.
Personally i would've said that the breakthrough in Quantum Teleportation is a much bigger advancement than gettng your webpage to load faster or getting quicker downloads.

I forgot about quantum teleportation thats definatly up there I think, I'd would be mnit if they could develop it so they can teleport actual matter like people and stuff, star trek stylee.
