I remember the argument, but that's definitely not the case.

I love Coldplay, and they are pretty big I'd say?! I still like the Kooks, Arctic Monkeys...

There's plenty of bands I do like that would be classed as obscure, but only if you don't have as much of an obsession with music like I do- Hadouken, Switches, The Maccabees, The Shins, Kubichek, I Was A Cub Scout..

But I agree with you on the taste thing...

Case in point, their last album went to number 2 in the American charts and the songs off Chutes Too Narrow have been used in more ads than Carol Smilie..

But obviously as no one has heard of them, then they are 'obscure'...

mars bars and snickers have definately shrunk there was an advert floating round with a scale showing the sizes of the bars over the years and the mars bar of the 1980's was bigger than the KING SIZE bars of today....the ones from the 80's were long and dead fat. so thats no a case of just growing upand me getting bigger.

I've been this size since i was 4 anyway, its just my mouth that grew.

eyeball - the kooks are undrground as fuck! what are you on about them being mainstream!!

whereas i, on the otherhand am cool cos i listen to people like... hellogoodbye (one of the only people to sell out the academy in jan... yet no1 i talk to has ever heard of them! :spangled: ), yellowcard, gym class heroes, paramore, the academy is... etc. but then i supercool it back up by listening to the antics.

The Kooks are not even remotely mainstream!

And judging by your music tastes, you're a 15 year old girl who likes to self harm..

    No.2 in the US
    No.5 in Australia
    No.16 in the UK

I've heard of all those apart from the first one, they mostly appeal to 14 year olds so like someone said, it's all relative..

My measurement of if a band/artist is cool/underground is as follows:

If my lass has never heard of them: THAT SHIT IS HEAVY

If my lass has heard of them but couldnt name a song: YEAH YOUR STILL PRETTY DOWN WITH IT MAN

If my lass knows the words to the chorus: WARNING: POSSIBLE IMPENDING LOSS OF STREET CRED

If my lass has the album: SELL THE ALBUM, BURN THE T SHIRT AND IF THEY EVER COME UP IN A CONVERSATION THEN ROLL YOUR EYES AND TUT AND IMMEDIATELY COMMENT ON HOW BOWIE/LED ZEP/THE CLASH WAS DOING THAT SHIT 30 YEARS AGO
