My grandad was like that , he died of a variety of things (mainly old age) and he was in hospital for a couple of weeks.....we lived up here and they were down in Kent and the dr's said all the time that he could go at any time

He held out until all our family were there with him and we had all seen him and then passed away , he couldnt speak but you could tell he knew we were there....trying to communicate with him while he was laying there , not the man I knew , was one of the hardest things ive ever had to do

Amazing resilience from him , I will never forget what he did for us there

i think people do know when it's time - something that can't be explained... once they've made peace or done what they want - they let go like you say, it's good he held out for that - gives you all some peace of mind

mine was probably watching my best pal collapse and fit, in our hotel room on holiday, one minute we were all drinking having a laugh and the next she went all quiet , and sorta slid down the wall into a heap on the floor, started fitting, and foaming at the mouth. then she went all still.

i tried to feel her pulse, and couldnt.....honestly thought she was dead. Phoned teh ambulance, and she came around, still no idea wot caused it!

i was wrecked at the time, so that didnt help:eek: :(

when i was in lisbon 2 years ago, there was a homeless guy with what can only be described as huge, tennis ball sized tumours all over his face

his eyes, mouth etc were just covered over completely, he couldnt see anything

The first sighting of my best mates coffin when we were 17, after finding out that he had cancer 1 month before he died.

My mum getting pushed through a window, her wrist went through first and slit it open, she lost 7 out of the 8 pints of blood we have in her body. It was christmas eve 99. the abulance got her stitched her up at hostpital, she ame home then her stitches broke and the wrist split again(hence why she lost so much blood) the ambulance thought we were a hoax call when we rang back and nearly didn't come. She went green then passed out in my arms, i thought i was going to lose her but a man at the party slapped her to bring her back round thank god else she would've died.

Seeing my Gramps slowly die of suffercation from an incurable lung disease.

Seeing my Dad in the chapel of rest the day before his funeral when I'd not seen him for three months, didn't seem real then, doesn't now. with no knowing what was going to happen seeing him so still and cole was the biggest shock of my life

I live in a top floor flat and was sitting with me dad watching a film, heard this almighty bang but never thought anything of it until the wifey from downstairs started knocking on the door hysterically.

She said someone had fell down the stairs so I quickly hoyed me clothes on and raced down the stairs to see the worst thing I've ever seen, an old woman lying there and her head was caved in at the front, she died after a few mins. Was without a doubt the worst thing I've ever seen.
