    u again r talking about those genuinely in need of coming into this country...............now explain why we should accept those who r coming over & who r not genuine asylum seekers?

    unless the system changes & we have a decent process which they go thru b4 being accepted as asylum seekers we will always end up with bogus seekers like those terrorist suspects in manchester.

    Me and my step dad 4years ago would have sad 'Kick the buggers out!' but now my step sisters been married to an Albanian for 3years so our perspective has changed a little, he was genuine tho.

    Have you any fucking figures.... everyone here is talking about all asylum seekers being fucking sponges, have any of you got any figures other than the bullshit ones made up by the daily mail to sell papers?

    Have any of you ever known or worked with asylum seekers.... My mam has worked closely with you and I can hand on heart tell you the vast majority (at least in her experience) of asylum seekers have been genuine and haven't wanted to sponge off the system but infact get a job.... They've been doctors, nurses, teachers, lawyers, etc. in their old country they are forced to flee that country because of their beliefs.

    They come to england expecting their human rights... a chance... well its only fair seeing as half the time we're the cause of them having to flee their fucking country! They get here and are immidiatly branded a spunger, an illegal immigrant... they find it hard to get work, they're subject to racial abuse.

    All because the mail want to sell a few more papers.

    SHOW ME THE FACTS THAT YOU BASE YOUR ASSUMPTION THAT MOST/ALL ASYLUM SEEKERS ARE BOGUS.

    Many years ago there were a few squadies out of step opposed to slave labour too.... Yet they stood up for what they believed and fortunatly the world conformed :D

    Yes, I know this is a gross generalisation, and most people would think that Radio 4 is more believable than the tabloid press, but it doesn't mean that Radio 4 was right either. The thing with statistics is that you can spin them pretty much whichever way you want.

    couldn't agree more and I know I'm a wanna be leftie :D

    I'm not ashamed of this, but just a little pissed off at every1 branding all asylum seekers as bogus illegal immigrants cos they read so in the press.

    I'm guilty of doing the complete opposite, I know... :D B ut I do accept there are a lot of bogus seekers.... However my ignornce does not fuel racial prejudice.

    the title of the thread asks peeps bout their thoughts on asylum seekers..............those r my thoughts joe i don't have to justify anything i say bout this subject with facts........as i ain't researched it i don't have stats & i have no doubt that the stats printed in the papers will b altered for better reading, so i wudn't waste my time finding them out!!!


    if it was made harder 4 them to claim asylum (i.e.) we had a more thorough & adequate system then they would think twice about coming to this country in the 1st place, so therefore we wouldn't have any or at least a much lower percentage of bogus seekers coming to live over here!!
