i can honestly say apart from picotto that my tastes remain the same, i still dig guy ornadel, and have seen the light with matt hardwick....
if the line ups were still kinda the same flavour it'd be wicked...
    hard trance = no score.

to me, the line ups were the best when its was a bit of nick warren, anthony pappa, dave seaman etc, combined with some sweet trance, such as guy ornadel, hardwick, bond
and a bit of dirtyness, such as dalek

the night that summed up promise for me was jan 2002, lucien foort then matt hardwick- one of the best nights out ive ever had, not just at foundation

2001/ early 2002 was my favourite time at promise, i used to be there almost every week

nick warren was my dj of 2001
    guy ornadel 2002

    times change i suppose

That was definetly the best time when it was kind of in the cross-over progressive into trance stage. Had some class nights then. Tulip was in his element warming up and the guests were quality but were a little bit different every week rather than having the same style - memories!

tell me about it mate- the amount of nights i had where i couldnt stop smiling
tulips dark, driving proggy warm up, maybe someone like slacker or nigel dawson taking it up a level, before ornadel or hardwick took the roof off

then youd get a pure trance night like van dyk
or a pure prog night like dave seaman

    memories indeed

The nights definetly had a flow to them then. It took a while to find that balance between serious music but at the same time remembering it was a friday night and for a few months they had it perfect. Not too sure what happened really cos I remember it being busy nearly all the time around that period

yeah, nigh on every time i went it was busy, and the atmos was second to none
the only time i remember it being quiet was nick warren dec 2001, though the students had just gone home, and it was sasha at that bacardi vivid thing at the telewest the night after

Some people go on like Promise was a ghost town back then but that was when it was at its consistently busiest imo. Harder stuff might get people in short-term but not in the long run

that was so bad, worst set i've heard from sasha. great layout inside, just appalling music. lee burridge was terrible aswell.
