goldeneye was the finest console FPS made (until halo, anyway... ) but it wasnt genre defining - the pc had 'defined' the fps long before - and if we are looking for greatest ever FPS it has to be half life... :king:

so maybe it defined console fps / multiplayer goodness... but no more :p

still not as bad as havin to load a tape for 5mins, then turnin it over for another 5mins.. then not even fuckin loading..... how fuckin anoyin did that used to be?

on the old 48k, some games had different levels on different parts of the tape - and it gave u 'tape counter' positions for each level, i.e. 67 - level 2, 101 - level 3. i was fooked when my old tape player bust and i bought another cheapo one that didn't have a counter!!

Ahhh Getting 'Your Sinclair' every month, getting the 'Pokes' off the tape or spend an hour typing them in - only to load your game and it didn't work. So u'd naff off outside and pull wheelies on your 'Rayleigh Burner' BMX (The Blue and Yellow one with 'Mag' wheels' - after u took the pads off, obviously - they weren't cool)

Elite (amiga version) was ace, but my saves disk corrupted and i never really got back into it after having lost so much progress. :(

if you yearn more some modern day elite style action, go get a game called 'freelancer' ( http://www.microsoft.com/games/freelancer/ ) ... it's a hell of a game, and the nearest ive found to getting the sense of freedom you had in elite. :)

    :D
